 Main aims and tasks:
 
Development of structure-thermodynamic approach to regulation of structure organization of polymers in heterogeneous and liquid phase systems. Investigation in the field of development of scientific foundations of separating a-cellulose from linen raw materials, studying their physical-chemical properties and reactivity. Development of environmentally friendly technologies of complex recycling of annually renewable linen raw materials. 
Development of physical-chemical principles of production technology of powdery sorbents of petroleum and mineral oils from waste polyolefins on foundations of fundamental investigations.

Physical-Chemical Principals of Technology of Production of Polyolefin powders with controlled properties

 The aim of the project is to solve two important ecological problems:
 
Processing of polymer wastes and secondary polymer raw materials the amount of which reaches 15 billions tons every year (data 1999 year for polyolefin) efficiency of utilization is not exceeding 1 %; 
 Breakdown elimination of more and more often occurring oil and mineral oil outflow.   
The final goal of the project is to develop physical-chemical foundations of novel industrial technology of polyolefin powder obtaining from their solutions in organic liquids, as well as its equipment design. This technology excludes necessity of using precipators in contrast to conventional one.

Scientific Program of fundamental investigations N6 GCIM RAS “Scientific fundamentals of resources and energy saving in processing mineral, human-caused and renewable raw materials" in the frameworks government contract №10002-251/ GCIM -06/128-134/200603-783  (2003-2008 years).

Main stages of the project:
 
  • investigation of the influence of mechanical and chemical impact on physical-chemical and structural parameters of cellulose in solid and liquid phases; 
  • obtaining thermodynamic parameters of interaction of cellulose and its ethers with individual and mixed solvents in solid and liquid solutions; 
  • development of methodology for determining flax cellulose physical-chemical and structural characteristics; 
  • investigation of physical-mechanical properties of linen cellulose samples obtained under various conditions.

Main results:
 
 
Physical-chemical foundations of economically effective and ecologically safe extraction process of amorphous-crystals polymers in the form of powders from their solutions in organic liquids have been developed. 
Laboratory set-up for polyolefin powders production has been made and its optimal technological parameters have been determined. 
On the basis of developed requirements specifications of a pilot set-up with output 1 kg of the powder per hour has been constructed and started up. 
Main disadvantages of the set-up have been revealed. Directions of their debugging are outlined. Partial modernization of the set-up has been made. 
Pilot batch of the powder from different polyethylene wastes in a quantity of 15 kg has been obtained. An efficiency of their application as sorbents of oil and mineral oils spread upon water surface has been shown. 
Developed technology is p
rotected by two Russian patents and was awarded Gold medals at International exhibitions «Archimed 2004» (Moscow), «Eureka! 2004» (Brussels 2004), «Iena 2005» (Nuremberg).
