Phase separated heterogeneous conducting films of poly(methyl methacrylate) PMMA/1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate BMIPF6 have been prepared using solution cast technique and investigated by means of FT-IR spectroscopy. Based on the shifts of specific frequencies the intra- and inter molecularinteractions have been estimated. To accurate determine of shifts value the Gaussian fitting of ring C–H and F–Pstretching vibrationmodes of BMIPF6 has been applied. It was found that BMIPF6 interacts with PMMA mainly via the hydrogen atomon the second carbon of imidazolium cation and carboxylic oxygen of polymer. In addition, in BMIPF6 captured by PMMA as a liquid macro-dispersed phase the interaction between BMI+ cation and PF6− anion was found to be more intensive than a weak one in a bulk pure ionic liquid.
