Abstract

The processes of supramolecular complexation in mixed dilute aqueous solutions of sodium alginate and positively charged Zn (II) phthalocyanine derivative were investigated by spectrophotometry and dynamic light scattering methods. The complexation is accompanied by fluorescence quenching. The process of complexation includes the stages of electrostatic self-assembly, intra-supramolecular rearrangement, metastable state and phase separation. The hydrodynamic radius and zeta potential of the complex in the metastable state for different compositions of mixed solutions are determined. The pH range of the existence of the complex and the conditions for its dissociation upon introduction of a low molecular weight electrolyte and a cationic polysaccharide are determined.

The supramolecular complexation in dilute aqueous solutions of sodium alginate and positively charged phthalocyanine photosensitizer was investigated. Phthalocyanine is present in the complex in the form of non-fluorescing aggregates. The characteristics of the complex, as well as the conditions for its dissociation are determined.
