Final stage of the "Popular scientific flash-talk" contest

On December 17, 2021, students, post-graduate students and young scientists doing their research at three higher educational institutions of Ivanovo City – ISUCT, IvSU and ISPU – and ISC RAS competed for the title of the best speaker at the final stage of the first youth contest "Popular scientific flash-talk".

 

The participants were twelve winners of the qualifying stages (three from each of the institutions):

Anna Garibyan (ISC RAS),

Artyom Sherudillo (ISC RAS),

Ekaterina Dolotova (IvSU),

Yulia Dukhova (ISPU),

Denis Miroshnichenko (ISPU),

Viktoria Konovalova (ISPU).

The talks were assessed by three criteria:

  1. meaningfulness of the content and its accessibility to a wide audience;
  2. brevity and originality of the oral presentation;
  3. design and clarity of the slides.

The jury consisted of representatives of Russian and foreign research institutions, Ivanovo television, supplementary education and business community of our city.

The first prize was given to Anna Garibyan, a first-year post-graduate student of ISC RAS and an IvSU graduate, for the talk "Cyclodextrin is essential for drugs" (the supervisor is Doctor of Chemical Sciences Irina V. Terekhova).

The second prize was awarded to Artyom Sherudillo, a first-year Master course student of ISUCT doing research at ISC RAS, for the talk "Luminophores against lasers" (the supervisor is Candidate of Chemical Sciences Lyubov A. Antina).

The third prize was given to Ulyana Kovkova, a first-year Master course student of ISUCT, for the talk "From the molecule to the solar cell".

The Public Admiration Prize was won by Yulia Dukhova, a fourth-year student of ISPU, for the talk "Nanoparticles as a bullet for microbes".

A special prize of IvSU – a Python Programming course – was awarded to Denis Miroshnichenko (ISPU) for his talk "Artificial intelligence in fabric quality assessment".
